My love/hate relationship with blogs
I am a journalist by nature, in that I write in my journal on a regular, nearly daily basis. I'm not a media journalist. But blogging has always had that big brother, voyeuristic feel to me. I'm not sure I really want to share my every intimate thought with everyone in cyberspace. And yet, as a published author, whose first book was a grief memoir, that's exactly what I did. I shared my intimate thoughts and feelings with anyone who would purchase my book. So I walk that fine line of wanting to maintain some privacy, and yet, in order to boost book sales and to push my work, I must publicize my actions and thoughts. I am slowly finding my filter.

And I find, nearly a year later, that those same sentiments are true for me. But the book marketing experts say that in order to gain exposure as an author, blogging is one of the best ways to do that. Even my middle school aged daughter now has to blog daily for one of her classes, so I find the activity in some ways inescapable.
